The Reims tourist office is the center for tourist information. Not only did they provide useful assistance and a quick overview on the history of the city, but the clerk even phoned a taxi to help us make our way to a champagne cave. Their kind assistance was truly appreciated on a very wet day in July.

Dear "Lynn1950", we are glad we were like, kind of, sort of, your little ray of sunshine on that "wet day in July"! We're happy that you could enjoy your stay even with the bad weather. That's the spirit! Best regards. The Quality Manager

Good grief! I've sent several emails, and no one is responding. My husband I were in Reims. We purchased several tours, which were great, but the walking tour was canceled. We waited about half an hour for the tour guide to show up, and then finally canceled it. They would not refund our credit card, but told us to send a email to get the refund, which I have done. No response!

In our recent trip to Reims we found the staff at both the tourism centre near the station and the cathedral super helpful! They were able to point us in the direction of English speaking tours and audio guides, as well as providing very helpful directions! Reims is really well set up for tourists, definitely something we appreciated!

My husband and I decided to visit Reims and Epernay for our silver wedding We visited the champagne houses which was a great experience Ruinart being out of this world. To find out where we were and what things we could do we went to the tourist information office which is situated at the cathedral , the gentleman was very very unhelpful and he never acknowledged my existence. We promptly left and survived with free maps from the Hotel. We did however discover another tourist info office at the train station in Reims the girl in there was fantastic.

This office is English friendly and full of staff who want you to enjoy their city. They were a great resource for making the most of our stay. The City Pass worked great at the museum. We didn’t have a chance to use it for the very extensive public transport trams, buses big and small.

Just don’t book any tours through the Reims Tourist Office, we were ripped off by them when booking a Gourmet Walking Tour for €55 euros each but were given a historical tour which costs €9 euros and cheap plate of food in an English pub ranked 385 out of 405 on Tripadvisor!
I booked this as a surprise for my husband’s birthday, he trained as a chef at The Savoy in London and we love to try regional food when we travel.
When we expressed our concerns to the guide at the end of the tour - it was the final straw when we were taken to the English pub, she confirmed it was a historical tour that she had given, so certainly not matching the description which refers to a bilingual guided tour in English / French giving visitors the chance to discover the Reims food cluture along the streets and the stories.
It goes on to say that as well as champagne, you will get to know about the various delicacies the area has to offer from the in the Boulingrin district and the michelin-starred restaurants of the city which apparently Reims the place to be for food lovers and wine connoisseurs.
Saying that this is a mouthwatering tour is simply a lie the only true bit being the light lunch provided, most of which was generic French rather than local and served up in an English pub.
We complained by email and when we did not get a response we visited the tourist office to speak to manager who took our details, including our bank details for a potential refund. After nearly two weeks and no I complained on Facebook about the misleading description of the tour, poor service, poor customer service.
Their have responded saying that they do not accept any failure on their part as they offer a walking tour focused on the history of the gastronomy in Reims. As food was not mentioned at any point in the tour and the guide herself told us It was a purely historical tour and not a food tour this is incorrect.
They even defend their choice of restaurant by saying it was chosen due to it having plenty seating capacity on a Saturday, no doubt due to its poor reviews and lowly trip advisor rating. And they are also happy, apparently, with the quality of the local products prepared by its chef, rather strange that it has so few customers and not one of the people we spoke to at the tourist office had even heard of the pub!
They are therefore not prepared to offer a refund.
This tour was an Expensive mistake, with very poor service from the tourist office so we will book through Trip advisor in future, where, from our experience if things go wrong staff are available to discus the problems and try to resolve them as quickly as possible, and more importantly apologise for them going wrong in the first place.

We spoke to a lady called Chiara who not only helped and advised us the best way to spend the short time we had in Reims but also did it with humour and a lovely friendly manner.
A lot of business could learn from this lady - really built us up to have a great day
Well done to you

A few of the attendants spoke English thankfully, but some information they gave us was not quite right about the city transport. Be aware if you buy a 24 hour ticket it DOES NOT LAST FOR 24 HOURS if you start using it in the afternoon as we did and found that 18 hours later it was not valid. To get the value start using it early in the morning.

Dear "SuzyQ76Sydney", I'm really sorry to say this but yes our 24 hour passes do last 24 hours. They have chips. The 24H span starts when you 1st use the pass, not when you 1st use it on the bus or tram. You probably used it in a museum, at a champagne house or most likely when booking one of our tours through our services. Once again, very sorry for the misunderstanding. Best regards. Why don't these folks advertise the Light and Music spectacular held at 11pm (most nights) at the Notre Dame Cathedral-- it is FREE, and one of the best light shows we've seen. 25 minutes of music and projected light telling the story of the cathedral.

Helpful and competent with good language skills. A bit understaffed and not very proactive. If you want to visit a champagne-house they can help you!

Dear "lindancoleman", I will start with the Porte Mars. It cannot be seen, not even a little bit, it is still being refurbished, until end of 2017, and hidden by scaffoldings. There is no entrance fee for that monument that can only be seen from the outside.
About the Saint-Remi Abbey, there is the basilica, a church, no entrRegarding the Notre-Dame cathedral and Saint-Remi basilica, they are churches and there are no entrance fees.
The Saint-Remi museum and Fine-arts museum are municipal museums and cost 5 € per person. The Tau Palace is a national museum and the entrance fee is 8 € per person

Has anyone taken the Vineyard tour arranged by the Tourist Office (the one that leaves at 2:15pm)? It is at an awkward time and means deciding between touring another champagne house or seeing the vineyards...cost is about the same but I don't want to run all over town trying to fit it all in.

Hello again "TennesseeTraveler60"! Taittinger does not accept reservations for groups under 10 people. Their tours in English are at 10.20am / 11.00am / 11.50am / 1.30pm / 2.20pm / 3.00pm / 4.00pm, 7 days a week. During the high season, on weekdays, you should go 20 to 30 minutes before the time of the tour. On weekends, more like 45 minutes to 1 hour. My daughter and I are coming to Reims by train, but will be touring 4 Champagne houses over 2 days. What is the best way to travel? Bus, taxi, or car? We have an international license.

Dear "Mary B", many champagne houses are within walking distance from the railway station or the cathedral. It depends where your appointments are. There are very practical city busses and of course taxis that you can book and will take you from one champagne cellar to the other. There are also car rental companies with driver. Renting you own vehicle is also possible. There are many companies represented in Reims. The only possible problem is with the tastings. The person who will drive should be careful... please excuse my boldness in this matter! Best regards. The Quality Manager

My daughter and I will be arriving to Reims by train. Is there a bus system for us to use to tour champagne houses? or should we rent a car? or taxi? We are getting an international license. We are looking for the most reasonable way to get around. Thank you.
Written August 20, 2015
Mary, The information is a bit hard to find on the Tourist Office website but there is a bus (lime green color). It makes a loop through the center of the city and gets close to Pommery, Taittinger, and Veuve. Mumm is not on the bus route but not a far walk.

I plan on coming to Reims on a day trip from Paris using the TGV. I have never used the TGV. Do I need to make reservations for the TGV, or can I just purchase a ticket when I get to the station? I would prefer the flexiblity of purchasing at the station, so that I arrive or depart Reims when I'm ready. Thank you.

Dear "TennesseeTraveler60", it is totally possible to buy TGV tickets on the very day. But then, there is the question of availability. Also, there is the question of price: it is cheaper when you book ahead. I totally understand your preference for flexibility thus freedom but I'm sorry I can't help you much more then that in your choice. It is really up to you! Best regards. The Quality Manager
