Another example of greatness! Beautiful monument in a picturesque square! One of must see places in Ajaccio!

Monument to the Battle of Austerlitz with statue of Napoleon atop a tall stairway – good views from the top. Some 2km and 30 minutes walk west out Ajaccio centre along Cours Gandavel. Best visited via the Petit Train (from Place Foch).

It is an interesting monument to the Battle of Austerlitz and there are pleasant views out to sea. It can be reached by walking from down town - interesting street and rakes about 30 mins.

Visited this briefly on the Petit Train tour. Nothing particularly spectacular but worth a quick view to tick the box as Ajaccio isn't loaded with places to see.

This town is filled with memorials to Napoleon and this monument atop a tall stairway is OK to visit but not really worth a special trip. Napoleon's statue is actually dwarfed by the stairway, making him seem even smaller than he was in real life.

A large monument to Napoleon. There is a long climb to the top . Most bus tours stop here so it can be busy

This was one of the stops on the Petit train which we paid for from the market place. It is a nice structure but not much to it. I think 20 minutes which is how long we stopped was more then enough time. There was a French dog show going on at the bottom.

If you are looking for excitement at this tram stop, no it is not the place. If you are interested in a beautiful monuement to a very famous person in history, it is daunting. As you cljmb the stairs to the top, the statue becomes empowering. There are 3 statues of Napoleon on this island, this one is the most... More

I'm going by the photo since I can't find an address on the web-- this is a giant statue of that jerk Napoleon, whom the French seem to adore despite the fact he disrupted and ended thousands of lives of people who really wanted to be left alone and do their thing. I hope the locals don't mind if someone... More

As others have mentioned, there isn't much here to see. The petit train stops here for about 20 minutes so you have plenty of time to walk up the stairs.
