Lovely to walk around the Vieux Port in the early morning when the yachts are reflected in the still water. You can walk out to the red and green lights on either side of the port, and you can watch the sun rise over the Citadelle.

Although some way from the capital, Bastia is the main commercial port for Corsica. Le Vieux Port is almost picturesque.

Better to look at from above than sit in, the old port is the pretty focus of the town but that has led it to be completely dominated by tourist restaurants.

It has small boats tied up. It is surrounded on three sides by restaurant after restaurant all serving very similar food at strikingly similar, elevated, prices.

The ship can dock and transfer to the port gate is by free transfer bus. Right in the old part of town. Catch the mini train to the castle and then walk down.
