Having cycled through some stunning scenery it was good to be back in town an equally inspired by this wonderful riverside architecture take time out to enjoy this vista I could so easily cycled on by.

I had no idea how Besancon could be. The more I was surprised when I saw the quai and walked along the quai to the city center. It´s like an old town but really ´vivante´and good for shopping ;)

Quai Vauban is a great place to walk and view the scenery, especially if the weather is nice. Some nice cafés and restaurants around.

This promenade by the river is awesome, it reminds me of the Quais of Paris! You will enjoy and maybe stop off at L'Alsacien for a bear after your stroll!

The sad things about smaller towns in France is that they have great architecture and history, but all the life has been sucked out and transferred to Paris. Looking at this street reminded me of this sad fact.

This is an attractive area of town that comes alive is late afternoons with its cafes and bars riverside as the Doubs flows by.

We walked up and down both sides of the embankment and enjoyed the picturesque views of the old buildings with archways (built in 1690's) and the river in spite of the cool weather and light rain. There didn't seem to be any places to sit...More
