This permanent, covered food-market reopened in 2017 after a makeover that substantially changed the look from when I used to frequent it during a long-term stay in the St. Sulpice neighborhood. But I learned on a recent visit that the focus on high quality remains the same, and the vendors are as friendly and as helpful as ever.The prices tend to be high, and space is rather small, especially when compared with some of the city’s big open-air markets. Yet a wide variety of offerings exist. Shoppers can find flowers, spices, cheese, fish, meat, deli items, fruit, veggies, soup, bread, pastries and more. In early afternoon on a weekday in July, some of the stalls had closed and only a few visitors were around.
Though this food market forms the huge arcaded building’s core, other draws along the exterior include cafes, a Marks & Spencer grocery and an Apple store, which is a biggie for me. As I generally stay in nearby Left Bank neighborhoods, I no longer have to cross the Seine for help with my iPhone or iPad at the Apple store in the shopping mall by the Louvre.
The massive rectangular market building is bounded by rues de Seine, Lobineau, Mabillon, and Clement. The closest metro stop is Mabillon on line 10. Closed Monday, the market is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

While exploring the area of Saint-Sulpice we stumbled upon a 19th century arcaded covered market, called ‘Marché de Saint-Germain’, tucked away in a side street of Rue Mabillon. Only the relatively small but well-stocked food section was open. The rest of the huge building (4 600 s.m. large), is undergoing major refurbishing and will soon house, amongst others, an Apple Store, a Marks & Spencer Food supermarket, a Nespresso shop.
The food market is open from Tuesday to Saturday (8 a.m. – 8 p.m.) and on Sunday (8 a.m. - 1.30 p.m.). Closed on Monday. Metro stop Mabillon.

This covered market is located 2 blocks from the Hotel de Fleurie, where we stay in Paris. The market is not that large but the quality of the food they sell is excellent. This market is often included on "Foodie" market tours of Paris. The last time we were there, there was a group on a food tour at the cheese shop where they sell an excellent selection of high quality cheeses. It is open Tuesday - Saturday 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., closed Monday.

This market is exactly the reason I'm so jealous of how folks in Europe shop for their dinners. Supermarkets are not huge and mediocre. They are Super Markets. Just great. Marche St. Germain is just big enough to have a great selection but not too large to be impersonal. We bought berries that were sweet and tart and perfect. And, we enjoyed a cheese as part of our lunch that was aged over 30 years. Very highly recommended!

This is a great market to visit when the weather is cold and drizzly. Although not large, the merchants carry high quality goods. One of the cheese shops carries our favorite Roquefort - Carles. We have run in to several food tours who come to this market, which makes sense since the participants are not walking around in the elements as they would be at outdoor food markets. Well worth a visit if you are in this area.

Marche St Germain is a small market, sells fresh seafood, vegetables and dairy products. I love this market! I and family stayed for 1 week at the St Germain neighborhood and this is simply convenient. The seafood are really fresh and the fishmonger or in French, poissonnier were so friendly. I bought a few variety ie squid, salmon, clam and sea urchin and they gave free herbs and lemon to go with the seafood. How nice!

I thought this would be a large indoor market but it really wasn’t much bigger than the pop up markets that happen around town (Marche Monge is easily twice the size and is a pop up market). Didn’t find anything of note that would be great for breakfast or a picnic. Attached to a good sized Marks and Spencer grocery store.

I purchased a 28 euro bottle of white wine at Bacchus et Ariane at the st Germaine Marche in Paris. . Rully “Maizieres” was the wine. It was undrinkable. Propriétaire assured me it was an excellent wine. I’d say it tasted more like poison or moth balls not wine. Would not recommend the place!

We were wondering through the streets around our hotel in search of some fresh fruit and happened to stumble across this market.
They were actually closing up when we arrived but one of the fruit stands was more than happy to help us out.
I can't comment on quality of the produce throughout the rest of the market (charcuterie and cheeses etc), however I can vouch for the strawberries! They were certainly expensive, but that was to be expected given the location. That being said, it has been almost a year and I still think about how perfect these berries were!
If that isn't a testament to the quality, I don't know what is.
