This bridge leads to the Place de la Concorde, where the guillotine was set up during the Revolution. Now it is a huge traffic circle. And this bridge carries a lot of traffic toward the Place, so it is not all that pleasant to cross on foot. Still if you do, you will get good views of the river and the Louvre.

Pont de la Concorde dates to the late 18th century and is a bridge with some history behind it. It is not elaborate like Pont Alexandre III, which is just further up from this location. It is a stone arch bridge and it offers some beautiful views over the river. At one end you come face to face with the Assemblee Nationale and other nice buildings. At the other end you come to the Place de la Concorde and some wonderful things to see there. Worth a visit.

Like the square of the same name, the bridge was called the bridge of the Revolution. There was a reason for this. Not figuratively, but literally. Stones from the dismantled Bastille were used to strengthen this bridge, which the architect Jean-Rodolphe Perronet finished after the Bastille was taken. The bridge does not indulge in details, unlike, for example, the Alexander III bridge. However, the decorations were earlier. Napoleon placed 8 statues of fallen generals, including the most courageous-Lannes, who was killed at Esslingen. Louis XVIII could not leave the generals of the Empire on the bridge, especially since many of them had fought in the revolutionary army and erected statues of statesmen and military leaders of pre - revolutionary France-Richelieu, Colbert, Turenne, Sully and others. However, in a fit of servility, the performers overdid it and the statues threatened to bring down the bridge. The Bastille that became the bridge could collapse a second time. The statues were dismantled in various places (Colbert was, for example, in Brest), where some of them were damaged. And the bridge is now only with a railing.

Pont de la Concorde is just another nice bridge over the River Seine. This bridge is pretty busy and it is a good photo spot.

Dominant-looking bridge in front of the National Assambley building. Quite often closed due to numerous protests, like when we stmmbled upon it.

At first the Pont de la Concorde is not very interesting, until you find out that it was rubble from the Bastille prison (the destruction of which, in 1789, started the French Revolution) that was used to complete the bridge. Completed in 1791, the bridge was to be named Pont Louis XVI, but after the revolution it became Pont de la Révolution then, in 1795, became Pont de la Concorde, before reverting back to Pont Louis XVI then back again to Pont de la Concorde in 1830.

The only nice thing that I can say is, it has a nice view of the Seine, the bridge by itself has no great decor. There are more bridges to look along Paris!!

Walked over a few times. Nothing spectacular about the bridge itself, but good views of the Seine, Eiffel Tower, National Assembly.

This is a busy and lovely bridge. Crossing it at night affords a lovely view of the lower Parliament house.

The bridge itself doesn't really stand out from all the others in the area. It does, however, have quite nice views of the surrounding area. There was a nice view of the Tuileries Garden as well as the obelisk in Place de la Concorde. It also had a nice view of the Eiffel Tower.
