This part of Paris was once full of workshops of artisans who created a lot of the luxury goods for the world. Gradually they have been replace by apartments or little houses, or as in this case, by shops and artists. This little courtyard is very charming.

Located just off the Place de la Bastille, is this hidden gem, secret street, (pardon the cliches), so peaceful away from the traffic, definitely worth a visit when exploring Paris, you wont be disappointed.

This is a fascinating little street. Its very photogenic and just off the place de la bastille in the centre of Paris. Lots of cobbles and nice old buildings to look at

It´s a nice passage to walk through. The surrounding streets are felt with life and nice places to eat or enjoy a cup of wine, but if you already walked them, it is nice to walk through the lonely old alley in the agitated surroundings of La Bastille.

I happened to come across this backstreet when I was heading to the bustling 10th arrondissement from Place de la Bastille. The stone pavement and green awnings give it a refined feel that is typical of French backstreets. It is a quiet, clean street, and unusually free of litter. There is a black iron gate at the entrance. I wonder if it is closed at night. There seem to be some kind of workshops on both sides, but they were all closed and there was no one there.

A small courtyard dating from the end of the 18th century, private but open to the public from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Entirely paved and wooded, it has two entrances (the closest is that of the Bastille metro station).
