Beautiful stores selling interesting items, lots of artisans engaging in their crafts. A totally enjoyable walk of discovery. And, of course, the coulee verte, is right above. I completely disagree with the negative review of the prior reviewer, westwilshire, perhaps they suffered from visiting in...More

The area under the old railroad tracks has been transformed into a series of shops selling specialized goods. High end. Up above is one of Paris' most beautiful and unique parks, the Promenade Plantee. I never get tired of walking along it.

We were so looking forward to this attraction but there was absolutely nothing to see. The viaduct itself may be a nice walk above the city but the courtyard below that allegedly contained arts and crafts was a bunch of empty real estate - shops...More

Such a quiet, midweek walk after a visit to the Marche D'Aligre @4 km in length. Old elevated rail line with artisan and craft shops in the lower arcades. Planters in full summer bloom. Seems somewhat underused compared to the quays but is very busy...More

Great ground level set of arts shops and creative ateliers. Top level has a very nice trail with lots of green. In my opinion, a hidden gem in Paris.

The elevated park above, Promenade des Plantes, is a wonderful walk, up above the traffic. Super popular. Down below is a collection of unusual shops and galleries built in the arches of the former elevated railway.

We started at the Bastille end and walked as far as Bel-Air metro station. The first part of the walk was elevated, as per its New York high line equivalent. In February the plants are principally out of flower but did see a few trees...More

The Viaduc des Arts is a former railway viaduct which has been refurbished and converted into an elevated walkway. The arches below have been let out to various businesses, shops and boutiques. The upper part is planted and makes a very pleasant walk, a nice...More

Wanted to stretch our legs a bit after reaching our accommodation in Jussieu following a long train journey. Took in this viaduct along the way. Nice walk among the greenery and some good elevated views. Good to see that the arches below are used too,...More

Amongst all the artisan and artist workshops I saw at the Viaduc des Arts, the Parasolerie Heurtault was my favourite. Michel Heurtault creates bespoke umbrellas for people or the movie and theatre industry, and restores old umbrellas and parasols as well. His workshop is like...More

Nestled between the Seine, Bastille, and Père Lachaise
lies a peaceful side of town where wide avenues and
impressive buildings accompany green spaces and small
parks. Landscaped havens are plentiful, from the Bercy
Park to La Coulée Verte and most impressively the Bois
de Vincennes, which even contains a medieval castle on
its doorstep. For an escape from the masses head to
this calming neighbourhood where real Parisians make
