We had a limited time in Paris, and I knew I wanted to visit at least one museum - d'Orsay, l'Orangerie, or the Marmottan. My friend and I decided on the latter because it would be interesting to see art that may not be available...More

The museum came highly recommended with many works by Monet, but the day we visited much of his work was not available as a special exhibition was being set up. The supporting works by other artists were all on show..Sisley, Pissaro etc. We were disappointed...More

Located in a beautiful mansion, it has masterpieces of impressionist painters. Its size allows for a close connection with the paintings, No need to walk endlessly or fight to negotiate a good viewing spot of the great works of art. Reading about Impressionism will greatly...More

This is a bit out of the center of Paris but well worth the visit. A terrific collection of Monet and several other impressionists. Our guide book suggested an hour. We spent more than two hours.Do not miss.

An excellent museum in the 16th Arrondissement, (Metro stop La Muette). There was an exhibition with paintings of Caillebotte (a revelation!), Gauguin, Picasso and so on. The permanent collection surely is worth visiting: 'Impression soleil levant' from Monet and a room with some of his...More

The magnetism of this house museum draws me to visit almost every time I am on Paris. The show of Monet’s collection a year ago was terrific but wandering the large scale canvasses of the permanent collection is always a treat.

Found this on tripavisor as #19 to visit in Paris. No line and no crowds!! The line at the Musee d'Orsay was hours long, so this was a delight. Spent 2 hours in the mansion including an hour in the basement with the many large...More

This is a delightful museum which, at the moment, has a great exhibit of paintings from private collections which range from Impressionism to Fauvism. It is also the home of Monet’s « Impressionism Sunrise » and many other works by Monet. Because of it’s location, being a...More

This is my 2nd favorite museum of Paris - right after the D’Orsay. The Monet collection is superb. Everyone was quite friendly, and they have a nice gift shop. You can take pictures of most things, but there are a few paintings that are noted...More

As opposed to larger museums, this one is on a much more manageable scale, while the quality doesn’t suffer. They have an outstanding Monet collection as well as some other beautiful artwork. It is truly a pleasure to walk around.

It’s not part of the Paris Pass but well worth the €12 fee. They do not have a senior rate and we enjoyed the collection without an audio guide.

Check the website. Almost everything closes during late July and August, and I would imagine the reason for the closure is the August exodus out of Paris! I hope you get to see it. It's a real gem.
