We waited in a line under umbrellas for entrance. Security check and entry uf appropriately covered. Beautiful, stunning, architecture, sculptures, art, reliefs, and prayerful! Walk at your own pace, light a candle, attend mass, pray, be astonished, the choice is yours. The intentio s left near St. Joan of Arc gave me goosebumps. Probably just my personal experience but nonetheless... More

Another huge European cathedral. Beautiful in it's own right, but no more interesting than others. If it's name wasn't Notre Dame, I probably would have skipped it.

Amazing building, slightly spoilt by the touristy penny press, and other touristy mod cons. However fantastic building, and well worth the visit.

Beautiful cathedral with a long and interesting history. Free entry! You can pay to walk up the towers but having done this on a previous visit and been terrified, I declined.

This church means many things to many people.. and it is all of those things, both positive and negative. The trick to is try to visit at a time of year and a time of day that will allow you to experience what it is you are looking for.. and then experience the magnificence of this building. The off season... More

Enjoyed the massive amounts of art work, statutes, artifacts and various displays. The gift shop located right next to the church pews. Mass held regularly. Loved going up into the bell tower and witness the incredible roof top view.

We actually went here twice on out trip to Paris. Once on a Saturday night for the organ concert and then once during the day to climb the tower. The organ concert was absolutely spectacular and not to be missed. The echo of the organ through the cathedral was awe-inspiring. I'm sure that our kids thought the concert was a... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
