This is an intimate and hilly little parc. Charming old ladies feeding lots of cats... if u know what I mean... Perfect if your feet need a little rest, and for free!

This is a gem in the city! The park is absolutely stunning and a great escape from the concrete jungle of Paris. The hill is a climb but the view from the top is totally worth it. It's a bit out of the way (in the 19th arrondisement) but it is a breath of fresh air. There are several little... More

A much more popular park for Parisians than any other. I wouldn't travel across Paris for it, but if you stay in the area, do make the detour. Quite hilly, it's a good walk and a venue for picnics, birthday parties, dates...

So many gorgeous views, a lovely spot to bring a packed lunch and get away from the crowds. Or come for brunch on the weekends at the gorgeous cafe located in the middle of the park.

Relaxing, beautiful, peopled but not crowded. Across the water one can climb up the cliff and stand in the gazebo to view Paris. Good for a stroll, and gelato.

Came here toward the end of our trip when we wanted somewhere to relax. Gorgeous place with lots more natural greenery than you see in the parks in the middle of the city. Nice to lay out and read a while.

A nice park within Paris (19th District: Dix-neuvième) - metro line 7 - hilly , quite hilly - several toilets - accessible for reduced mobility visitors - music kiosk with live shows (enquire) - family friendly - nice shadow during summer and less crowded than Luxembourg or Parc Monceau - culturally mixed: Carribean, Jewish, Muslim and other families from various... What a lovely area. We went to Belleville to get access to the Simone de Beauvoir footbridge (We decided to walk all the Paris footbridges.). What we found was a marvelous local park. Scarcely a tourist about, except for us of course. At the entrance to the footbridge on the upper level of the park, were 20 sculptures depicting various... More

Built over former stone quarries, this unusual park includes a big lake, a steep hill with a curious stone building on top, and a big slope where people sun bathe in the summer. Lots of benches to sit on, lots of paths to hike. Very well maintained.

Staying in Belleville / Pere Lachaise

Neighbourhood Profile
Belleville / Pere Lachaise
At the eastern edge of Paris lies Belleville / Père Lachaise, an understated wonderland of local treasures. Alongside the world-famous cemetery, family-owned delicatessens and cafés nestle between local stores and establishments. The richness of the population here has created a little Chinatown of Asian restaurants, and the area comes to life at night by a funky underground scene. Façades change from one street to another as one passes from white walled provincial homes to tall blocks and reconverted homes. The whole area is an inspirational mix of people from all corners of the world frequented by artists, students, immigrants, and Parisian families. Once home to supporters of the Paris commune, its rebellious nature is now offset by its rural charms.
