We were out walking and found ourselves in the complex of the Sorbonne. As retired teachers, we loved the college feel of the area and the wonderful architecture. How it would be good to be young and go to school here!

I have been trying to get into the interior for a while but you need student access. the building is massive as is its history but you can't go into the courtyard. Bummer.

Sorbonne district provides a good stroll and cheap student haunts, oozing an atmosphere of intellectual conversation in the background. Also littered with some quirky shops for shopping around.

History is here, the center of Paris' famous universities. I find this collection of buildings to be grand but not particularly beautiful. Security limits your access.

If you don't prearrange a €9 tour you will have to settle for a peek at the main entrance. Security is present and the days of wandering aimlessly imagining you'd arranged your life for one semester here are long gone. Still the architecture and the...More

Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life,
architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The
small streets are filled with classical buildings,
student bars and lively eateries while the squares are
dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined
by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin
once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which
celebrates the great men and women of France. During
