This church was next to the Pantheon. I had visited Paris a few times before but I had never read anything about this church. It is pretty small and we saw it by accident and decided to walk in. It was stunning. So small yet so beautiful. Definitely a must watch!

We stumbled on to this gem by accident after visiting the Pantheon directly across the road. It has a beautiful interior, and contains the shrine of St. Geneviève, the patron saint of Paris. The church also contains the tombs of Blaise Pascal.

Wonderful church tucked in behind the Pantheon...St. Etienne du Mont has classic Gothic architecture, beautiful spires, huge doorways, stained glass windows, bell tower, and gargoyles. A quintessential Français eglisé. Magnifique!

Wandering through the streets behind the Panthéon, we came across this wonderfully peaceful, light-filled church. Few visitors, so plenty of time to sit and enjoy. Worth the visit!

Very high pillars, a very curious church; his construction had a long time, over 200 years, and is of gothique style. The facade is strange, gothique and renaissance, and stacked in tree pediments.

This is a lovely little place behind the pantheon so visit here after you've been there it is in my opinion better than Norte Dame it may not be the same scale but inside is much more impressive more decretive and more craftsmanship please don't miss this place

Went in search of the Pantheon and this beautiful church was right behind it. It contains the shrine of St. Geneviève, the patron saint of Paris. The interior was unlike any interior of any church I'd ever visited. So big and bright inside. It contains the only rood screen left in Paris. I would definitely say...don't miss visiting if you're... More

I happened on this church on the way to visit the Pantheon. I knew nothing about it, but it was open and interesting looking (exterior a real mish-mash of architecture). I am so glad I did. The interior is quite remarkable with soaring, swirling catwalks and filled with light even on an overcast day. Some notable figures of French history... More

It is one of a last church to have a "jubé".(kinf of gallery cutting the liturgic part from the public part) It is the only one in Paris. The church has been modified along time wich makes it the most eclectic one of Paris.Very nice to visit.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
