When you think of bustling local Parisian life and of course a fair amount of tourist this is the street and area to check out. You can walk for several blocks on the Main Street or cut back a street or two and see many shops, news stands, food stands, a smaller cathedral and many cafes and other restaurants. If... More

Walked along St. Germaine des Pres in October 2013 en route to Luxembourg gardens. Looked at some menus at restaurants along the way. I saw a grocery store too besides a nice flower shop. Many shops. Many restaurants and shops. I decided to stop at a bakery and pick up a snack instead on my way to the gardens. This... More

This is the quarter you want to visit on a vacation in Paris. As a Parisian myself I can tell you how much I enjoy this quarter on sunny days as you can find many places that we like to visit, shop and eat in. Don't miss it

Stumbled into this part of town while exploring the Latin Quarter where the ambiance was perfect for coffee lovers and writers. I've reached the point where it's oddly my favourite place in all of Paris for the millennials, artists, poets, street dwellers, and restos!

This quarter is known for the great intellectuals that used to come and live here. It's great to have a drink at night in one of the famous bars.

Anchored in the History of Paris by the Luxembourg Garden & the Deux Magots on Blvd St Germaine & bounded by the Seine, the youthful bustle of the Universities of the 5th and the very Bourgeois 7th, are all of the galleries, high-end clothing shops, bistros, pizzareas, the lovely Place St Sulpice with the fountains and the Church whose mournful... This neighborhood tucked away on the Left Bank is chock full of small winding streets with cafes, galleries and boutiques as well as Boulevard St. Germain with chic French brands (Louis Vuitton, Cartier, etc.). In short, something for everyone! Don't miss the Luxembourg Gardens. Beautiful setting all year round.

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
