Really wanted to see a few of the old galleries from 1800's . This was open on Sunday because it has a couple of restaurants. Lovely glass and iron cover and floor mosaics.

One of my favourite things to do in Paris is to walk in the back streets and discover hideaway gems and Galerie Vivienne is one of them. Some shops are closed on Mondays and others don't open until 12, so visit from 12 and enjoy the walkways. Make sure you call into the florist and go downstairs, you'll be amazed... More

Had seen photos of Galerie Vivienne and decided to check it out on my most recent trip to Paris. It is a really gorgeous passageway of shops and the architecture/floors are pretty to see. There are also a few restaurants but those are a bit on the expensive side. The variety of shops were not unique or exciting by any... More

We visited in August when there was some painting work going on so it was nice to visit again in February to find that the Christmas lights were still up . The Galerie was very beautiful.

I came across the Galerie during my research in preparation to the travel. I read a bit of it and I made up my mind to visit it, but i was not ready for what i would have found. I loved the calm and the quite, far from all the crowded touristic places. Of course there were several tourists there... More

After many visits to Paris I had never been to Galerie Vivienne before as there is always so much to see and do in Paris. Anyway, on my last trip I put it on my list. This covered passage is centrally located and as I was staying in Place Vendome, it didn't take me long to get there. I have... More

Not far from louvre and behind The Palais Royal is this small but very charming galerie with shops, wine bar, bistrot and a lovely coffee and tea room named Odette & Zoe. I already went twice there and I really enjoyed the Sunday brunch!

My sister and I are always looking for off-beat adventures on our travels and we find the hidden shopping passages in Paris -- our favorite Is Galerie Vivienne. We also visited 4 more passages, walking between all of them. See our travel blog - havesisterwilltravel@blogspot.com for information about each of these passages.

This may be my favorite place in Paris. I have always loved it, even when it was a little funky. Now it is quite luxe, beautiful 19th Century architecture, expensive special shops. Lunch in the tea shop is a must.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
