This Cathedral has the most incredible architecture particulatly on the outside. Disappointing inside that despite the signs asking for quiet, the tourists made a real racket talking loudly and so disrespectfully amongst themselves. Equally disappointing was seeing a retail shop in the actual Cathedral. Seemed out of place to be purchasing things inside such a sacred place. We were there... More

This beautiful church is a must see when visiting the city of lights. If you come earlier in the day the lines are much shorter. They allow you to take photo's inside the church. We were lucky enough to attend when a church service was taking place. Make sure you take your time and enjoy. This church is also rich... More

You'll be amazed by the detail of the building that is beautiful and detail. Being not religious doesn't change your mind that this place is wonderful.

This is one of the best free things to do in Paris if you don't climb up the tower. Very beautiful inside and out. The architecture, sculptures and the stained glass inside was amazing. It was one of the highlights of our visit to Paris.

Being none religious, we didn't connect with it, but the architecture and the storey behind the building of this iconic church made it worth the visit.

Amazing to be able to see the famous cathedral up close. It is, however, marred by crowds standing at strategic areas for good photos.

wonderful experience , especially to go up and see the view from the top , and inside the bell tower. We love the Skip The Line tours - they are a must at these busy attractions.

Firstly, if you have knee conditions, I wouldn't recommend climbing Notre Dame as the higher you go up, the narrower the tower gets. The only bad comment I have about this place is the ticket person that served me. I was getting the 18-25 years ticket which is free but you have to show ID. I shown the ticket person... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
