The Paris Flea market tour we took was a great way to see the amazing markets and get a good idea of what it is and where everything is. It is an overwhelming place so being guided certainly helps. The markets are a great collection of small shops with everything you can think of. Well worth a visit. The markets... More

I have heard the flea market can be an overwhelming experience due to the enormity of it. This brief tour sets you up and provides enough friendly insight to help you navigate the market. What to avoid, how the stalls are established and set up, a few tips on how to barter and etiquette with vendors. I don't think we... More

I don't know much about the flea markets in Paris, and I hadn't planned on visiting one as my stay was only three days. On a Saturday we were on our way to Sacre-Coeur and we got off at the Lamarck-Calaincourt metro stop. Up the stairs we found a lively flea market in action! Up and down both sides of... More

I am a regular visitor to Paris and the two main flea markets, Porte de Vanvers in the South and Clingacourt (St-Ouen) in the North are very different but both wonderful. Clingers, as we have dubbed it, is actually a collection of many individual smaller markets offering everything from African carvings, cheap trackies and trainers to high end polished French... My goal is to visit the most famous and best flea markets when we travel to Europe. The Paris market is unbelievable; I wanted to take so many things home with me, but of course I couldn't. We settled on a few smaller items that I could pack safely and bring on the plane with me. Everywhere you turned and... More

The first time we went we got out at Garibaldi Metro on a sunday to find a cheap household market in the street. We spent a bit of time there and came back on the Monday once we had done our homework. We started at Porte de Clignancourt and walked towards Garibaldi. The best was the big 'hangars' with two... It is easy to get to the St-Ouen flea market. Take metro line #4 to the end at Porte de Clignancourt. Once on the street walk past the vendors aggressively selling knock offs. Walk under an overpass and take your first left. You will be walking in a sea of clothing , food and trinket stalls. It is a crowded... More

A staff member in our hotel recommended this place to us and I'm so glad we went. We caught a Metro out and once you're there, you have to walk past all the stalls selling trainers and clothing and once you're past that, its like a hidden find in the middle of a load of rubbish! The stalls were amazing,... More

For more than 100 years the Paris flea market in St Ouen has been the best place to find art, antiques and vintage design. More museum quality treasures have been been found in the Paris flea market than any other place in the world.

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
