We crossed the park walking from the Jardin de L'acclimatation to the Parc des Princes, so my son could go to the Paris Saint Germain store located beside the stadium.
The park is huge, not just a morning walk. There are several attractions to see, such as the Fundation Louis Vitton and the Rolan Garros Stadium.
Also, the park is beautiful with its lakes, little trails and very unique vegetation. I suggest that, if you can visit the park every time you visit Paris. Aham...a dream right?!

We did both Monet Gardens and Parc Bagtelle and Park Bagtelle was far more impressive as it was about 10 times the size of Monet Gardens. If you are a rose enthusiast this is a must but there are also walks and waterfalls. I left my husband under a shady tree while I absorbed the avenues of roses, twice :). However take note of the exits points as we went around in circles trying to find one at the end of a most beautiful day.

It is very hard to get to this place. The Bois de Boulogne lies outside the Metro, so we took the Metro to the end, and then walked, literally miles, on mostly deserted wooded park lanes to get here.
In case you think that sounds romantic...There are prostitutes everywhere in this park, in broad daylight. Female and transvestites. So yeah, you're walking at Noon through the park, and you walk right past a hooker in a miniskirt and tube top who is standing in the bushes waiting for a client. Other than prostitutes, there are very few other people on foot. Some on bikes.
So if you walk to Bagatelle, prepare to feel a bit uneasy. Or, if hookers are your thing, then I would give this place 5 stars, you'll have a great choice.
Once you get to Parc de Bagatelle, it's pretty good. The gardens are beautiful. The grounds are nice.
One big problem is the Parc is enormous, they don't give you a map, and the maps on signs are terrible and very sparse. I spent most of my time in the Parc trying to find the things I wanted to find, and retracing my steps after taking wrong (unmarked) turns.
There is also very limited services in the Parc. The bathrooms were closed, and I never saw a water fountain.
When we left, there was no way we were going to walk through the red light forest district again. The nearest Metro or train is at least a 30 minute walk away. We ended up getting a taxi, which I've never been so happy to see.
If you go: Try to drive here or get a ride direct to Bagatelle. Print out a detailed map ahead of time, or you will be lost. Bring your own water. Prepare to spend a lot of time here because the place is huge. HUGE. Know how you will get home after, or arrange to have a taxi. Do not walk anywhere outside the park.

Often missed by travelers to Paris, feel like a Parisian by picnicking with some wine, bread, and cheese in this gem of a park within the Bois de Boulogne. There is a mix of formal and wild gardens, including a rose garden, small birds and wildlife that include peacocks. Most of all, I loved the variety of trees. The park dates back to 1775 and Marie-Antoinette. If you visit in late spring or early summer on a sunny day, it is magical.

Can you believe this? This park, an Anglo- Chinese gem in western Paris, was born of a bet between Marie Antoinette and the count Artoise in 1775. She won,of-course and the park miraculously materialised in 64 days.
The beauty of the rose beds are internationally recognised with 12,000 varieties on hand to dazzle and delight. But for me,it is the layout of the gardens, its themes, the remarkable trees, follies, exhibitions and concerts that brings you to Bois de Boulogne in the 16th. Dont miss the vegetable displays in the Jardin des Presentateurs, they are remarkable in the array fielded.
There are three buildings on site that demand entry. The chateau,a white edifice of gorgeous proportions was once a hunting lodge with a name that means a trifle or 'little decorative thing'. The Trianon is a pink facaded building where we enjoyed a superb art exhibition and the elegant Orangerie where the Chopin festival is conducted annually.
Catch the Metro to Pont de Neuilly, then bus line 43 or Port maillot, then bus line 244.
This wonderful botanic gem has heaps more engaging things then say Giverny.

Let's face it, Parc de Bagatelle is one of many Paris' wonders: a superbly set English garden with stunning views on La Défense' business sky skrapers in the horizon from given points, yet perspectives where you hardly see any sign of civilisation as the parc is 24 hectares big. It houses a wonderfull Marie-Antoinette "Folie" (small castle built in the matter of weeks), a pride of self assertive peacocks and patagonian geese, but above all a wonderfully set collection of roses, clematises, glycines and trees.
my only regret: the City of Paris increase every year the summer entrance fee (currently EUR6), making it an expansive "promenade" for substantial families (no discount).
At the end of the day it definitely is worth the price for people who want to discover how an English excentric could afford himself a corner of paradise at gun's shoot from the heart of paris.
A bus directly leads you there from Porte maillot's metro station (leave by Neuilly's front exit as if you leave at Paris's back exit you'll have to walk half a mile through Place de la porte maillot, a nightmare by all means).

There doesn't seem to be separate reviews for the Chateau de Bagatelle, which is located in the Parc de Bagatelle in the Bois de Boulogne. Most days you will only be able to see the exterior. There is one tour per week of the interiors on Sundays at 3:00 pm. You meet the guide at the main entrance of the Parc de Bagatelle (Grille des Sevres). It is hard to find info about this online but the above day and time are correct. The guide speaks excellent English and she conducted an excellent tour in a combination of both French and English. This is a small neoclassical chateau built by the Comte d'Artois, brother of Louis XVI. The gardens were developed around the chateau. Napoleon's son lived here, then the it was purchased by the English Marquess of Hertford and housed his French decorative art collection. The Hertford French art is now in the Wallace collection in Paris, but the interiors have been recreated and filled with furniture and art by the current administrators, the City of Paris.

So many people skip the Bagatelle because of its small admission fee! We're lucky enough to live within walking distance of it, so it's one of our favourite Spring and Summer places.
Following a bet between Marie-Antoinette and her brother-in-law, the tiny chateau and its large park was built in 64 days in 1775, in the Bois de Boulogne. It's a delightful pleasure garden, complete with huge trees, an orangerie, grottoes, little bridges, lakes, waterfalls, a pagoda and lots of peacocks/hens. In Spring the daffodils, tulips, bluebells and flowering trees are fabulous. In Summer, it's the turn of the huge 'roseraie' (with 10,000 roses). and an annual international rose competition. Another highlight is the fascinating potager/vegetable garden - with scarecrows - beyond the iris garden behind the gardener's house.
A great way to spend a fine day! Smell the roses!

I was taken here a couple of years ago by French family friends whom I have been visiting in Compiegne, north of Paris, for more than fifty-five years. I did not go in the chateau. I am not sure if it was even open but we spent about two hours wandering around the wonderful rose gardens. I videod many of them because they were so beautiful but the air was perfumed with the scent of so many roses. There were lots of lawns and huge trees to sit under in the shade and lakes etc. There was also a restaurant which we did not go into. However, there was another even more beautiful smaller garden laid out further away from the entrance and to sit in this peaceful garden with the scent of roses and looking at all the other plants there as an absolute joy and I can highly recommend visiting it.

How to get there from Central Paris please
Written April 20, 2016
Hello, via the underground it is direct (20 minutes from the Center of Paris), then 10 min. walking.
Otherwise call a taxi (approx. 15 euros),

Nearest Metro and then taxi to get Rose Garden Bagatelle. Is that easiest?
Many thanks,
