The only place I encountered rude staff in Paris; the staff at first ignored me while I was trying to get a sample to decide on several honeys to buy-then told me to leave their samples alone. I spoke in French to be polite anyway to the sneering and greasy looking staff; there is no excuse to ever treat the... More

Dear Wondercovericcritic, My name is Emilie, I'm the member of the staff who tell you not to sniff the honeys sample. I want to appologize if you felt assaulted by my beahvior. I immediatly felt that there was a malaise and it wasn't my purpose of course. In order to preserve the hygenic property of our honeys it's forbiden to... More

We have been here twice now with different asian family members and this staff has always been very kind to us. They have all you can imagine but then with added honey.

La maison du miel As a self proclaimed honey expert, I really wanted to come to this shop! It's a smaller sized shop and they only sell honey and some smaller things related to honey such as soap. I was not disappointed when I walked in, as the walls are lined with jar upon jar of honey, and are mainly... More

I visited to buy a souvenir. I think it to have been several minutes on foot from the madeleine station. There are many rare kind of honeys,I think it is best for present! It is more expensive than honey sold in a supermarket. So,I didn't buy for me. But I bought a honey of sunflower for my sister in law.... More

We love French honey, and used to get it from French friends who kept bees. Sadly, their bees are gone so we had to search elsewhere. I'm so glad I found this shop! They have a huge assortment of honeys and honey products. The shopkeeper was friendly and helpful and there were even small jars on sale. I bought a... More

It has been a tradition for me to stop by at this quaint honey store. It is not far from Madeleine Church. I absolutely love the collection of honey from different parts of the world. And you can even ask politely if you can taste them (allowed 3 flavors to tastes max). They offer variety of honey base products and... More

I know it has been many years since I have been to La Maison du Miel, but I want to share my experience. In September 2005, I went to Paris to see the beautiful city, but also to find some honey a friend brought back from France a year earlier. I marked this store on my map and off I... More

I visited La Maison du Miel during Easter weekend 2014. There is a variety of honey from the regions of France. It is also a great place to buy honey in plastic containers which is perfect for packing to bring home.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
