Great views, but nothing was remotely interesting in the exhibitions. Maybe that is a lack in me. Good toilets and cloakrooms. The layout is unbelievably badly designed. You can spend hours wandering up and down stairs, escalators, lifts, with no clear signage anywhere. Staff are very helpful and most speak English (yes, I know it is up to me to... More

This time we had the rare opportunity to see the comprehensive Cy Twombly exhibit. The Centre is full of so many activities-performance, a play area for children, movies, a rather good bookstore and a fairly good cafe...And the view from the unusual escalators to the top is never tiring. You could spend hours.

Line for entry tickets was 30 minutes. No backpacks are allowed into the exhibits, so the line for coat check was another 30 minutes. The line to enter the exhibits is another 30 minutes. By the time we finally got in, it was time to go. Interesting art, but very crowded, so hard to have fun. Probably would have been... More

The venue is just amazing - a must see. The area itself is great. People sitting outside in the big courtyard in front of the building, street music, the fountain adjacent with art sculptures...and then comes the beautiful museum. It's worth just going up the escalator and seeing more and more of Paris the higher you go up. We had... More

Besides the solid permanent exhibition, I was lucky enough to find in the last floor, an exhibition of a great artist that I love. Besides the building itself is already worth it. That your time here.

What an excellent day. You could easily lose a full day here. There's a library, two expo's, a museum, amazing book shop where you can get prints and presents. Go on a Sunday and arrive 45 minutes earlier to minimize queuing time, and send a member of your party to get breakfast at amorinos. (30m) away

The building was it's own unique experience. It took us a bit to figure out that the escalators were attached on the outside. They had some fine pieces in the permanent collection and a show featuring Magritte. Another large show of Russian artists was not the best. We washed away the dreariness of that work with a visit to Brancusi's... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
