Well! Believe me, you can full day and be amazed. Start with the exhibition, and then go for a cafe on the top roof floor, then decide to visit the library and sit in the alleys between books and visitors of all kind, gender , ages . Watch all you can , then take the escalators up again and see... More

Large museum go online for all info...  the largest museum for modern art in Europe. It is vast and expansive, although easy to navigate. At time of writing this, the Magritte exhibition was a suprise and interesting. The colection is worth seeing. Plus great views of the city from this fantastic structure.

I went to the Magritte exhibition, there are about 4 rooms, displaying most of the Magritte pantings. The exhibition is good, the comments rather useless, and there is much crowd. we went on a Friday afternoon at 3pm, and t was already very filled. Tickets are sold out for a week or two in advance and they are not skip... More

Well we had the museum pass and it was getting late so Centre Pompidou was one of the few places open. I only regret that we were already pretty tired of the day because the free exhibitions here were very good. Being lame in terms of art I was pretty impressed with the amount and quality of some of the... More

Not sure why this is on any traveler's to do list, but we thought this was every bit of a waste of time. It to us, seemed like all this was, was a large industrial (modern) warehouse that has been turned into a bookstore, and a workstations. Add that on to the fact that we thought this place was way... Amazing collection of contemporary art bordering Les Marais in Paris. best part was that it was open late so could get in after dark with a comparatively short wait (in paris anyway). Loved every minute!

I visited it recently again for Magritt exhibition, which was very good. Good location, usually good collections and curation. I would recommend it for those who loves modern art.

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
