Montparnasse is a little out of the way of the major attractions but easily served by every form of public transport. Tour Montparnasse dominates the skyline of Paris as it towers 210m above the Place Montparnasse. On the 56th floor is an observation deck with flor to ceiling windows on all sides affording the most astonishing view of the city.... More

If you are in Paris... You must visit this place, that's it. And since Paris' lights are magnificent, then try to go at night.

The tour Montparnasse provides the very best view of Paris, day or night, from the 56th floor or 59th rooftop deck. I suggest buying the night &day pass, good for 48 hours. Get your bearings of Paris bt day, be amazed by the city of lights by night. And if you want the best view of Le tour Eiffel, then... More

We were really lucky with the weather on an April trip to Paris, brilliant sunshine and lots of hot walking. My 17 year old was a bit "museumed out" but keen to get some good shots for Instagram! I read that although the Parisians were up in arms when the enormous Tour Montparnasse was built (and the area is not... More

We visited the observation tower the first night to get a beautiful overview of the city. Then is relative comfort, we were able to sit inside and wait for The Eiffel Tower light show! Great view and fun way to view the whole city from above. Loved it!!!

The Montparnasse Tower is great. You get views of all of Paris in a pleasant environment. It is not packed with tourists and you can move or stay as you please. 686 feet high, Hidden gem.

A must go place in Paris. Can see all the interesting landmarks with a birds-eye view. Would be a wonderful place to enjoy the sunset in a clear summer evening on the roof top. Wondering what it would be like when the sky is dark.

It was raining the day we went and it was part of our Paris Pass - so with time to kill we decided to give it a try. The entrance for the Observatory is seperate from the main building but easy enough to locate. It is next door to a fairly large mall so keep that in mind if you... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
