Perhaps the most famous of the entrances to the Paris Metro. A beauty really! From the same spot you see l'Arc de Triomphe from a nice angle.

We were on our way to Bois de Bologne and sought out this metro exit. It is a really lovely example of one of the original designed by Hector Guimard.

Selected to present ideas for ground level station entrances to the brand new Paris Métro (underground/subway), then- young architect Hector Guimard led off -in 1900 - with this semi-crazily innovative Art Nouveau "bouquet"! No wonder that it won him the overall contract - and should still take your breath away! The Porte Dauphine metro station is in the 16th arrondissement. One of the stations close to Avenue Foch, its claim to fame is that it is one of two metro stations with its art deco design in Paris. The second one is the metro Abbesses.

Like Abesses in Montmartre, the exterior of one of the exits from Porte Dauphine Metro station is designed in a pleasingly art deco style. Take the Boulevard de l'Admiral Braux and you will come up through it. Apart from that this is somewhere that will detain you only briefly perhaps on your way to the Bois de Boulogne or l'Arc...
