This is the island on which Notre Dame sits, and we reached it by walking from the Louvre across the Pont Neuf. It's beautifully situated between two arms of the River Seine. Although many areas of Paris are suitable for pedestrian travel, this area is...More

The great experience begins when you cross any of the bridges to get in the island. On the Isle de la Cite you will find great Parisian icons like Pont Neuf or the magnificent Notre Dame or hidden jewels like the Sainte Chapelle or colorful...More

Behind Notre Dame is a Jewish Memorial. There are shady trees and park benches to sit at and admire the view. I recommend taking a lunch break and relaxing here during the hustle and bustle of city life.

Walking tour was wonderful introduction to Paris and its historical roots. Be sure to see the thousands of padlocks on the Pont de Neuf, "securing" lovers commitments for ever.

This island is really heart of the Paris. We didn't want to visit Notre Dame Cathedral, because it was really crowded there, but we enjoyed walking in the streets and also garden behind Notre Dame was really cozy and calm.

Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very
heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité,
sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of
Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the
site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held
before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic
Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the
Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island,
