I went alone, looking for the splendid bust of Dalida to honor a promise made to my mother before her death. Several guides were there with their groups to explain very simply that she was a very famous singer in France, only one guide showed "Let me dance" on her phone. Which made me think that it was a shame that there wasn't more explanation around the bust for tourists lacking in culture (alas!). The "tradition" of touching the statue's breasts to bring good luck is well followed, as well as criticized by some. One guide said "it's just an excuse to touch her breasts." Whatever one's opinion, it is a sublime bust. And I kept my promise to my mother, by touching her breast.

A tour guide took us to this statue & shared the story of Dalida. Of course, we did touch her breasts for good luck! We look forward to our receiving our good luck by coming back to Paris!

For non French speakers you may not know who Dalida is. She was enormously successful, earning multiple gold discs and the first ever diamond disc. Despite all the glory she had a very troubled life and most of her lovers killed themselves. She committed suicide herself in 1987 in her mansion very close to this statue. She was born in Egypt and has even been linked romantically with President Mitterrand with rumours that is why a pyramid ended up outside the Louvre. The more you dig the more interesting stories come out.
You can do a short tour of Dalida related sites all quite close to this statue. The bust is located in Place Dalida. Close by is the Moulin de la Galette, she was a regular visitor and there is a plaque by her favourite table. Her mansion is across the street from the Moulin de la Galette down the little lane. It sits at the end of Rue d'Orchampt. Another plaque of the wall states she lived here from 1962-1987. Her elaborate grave is in Montmartre cemetery, at least a 20 minute walk away.

Fans of internationally acclaimed singer and actress Dalida (1933 - 1987) will want to pay their respects at a small site devoted to her commemoration and remembrance. She was an Egyptian-born singer of Italian origins, but she lived most of her life in France. She is probably the most internationally successful French performer of all times, and was often regarded as the “queen of French chanson". Her diverse repertoire and heartfelt interpretations of both sentimental ballads and pop music brought her adoration by mass audiences and by politicians and intellectuals alike.
She lived in, and loved, the neighbourhood of Montmartre, and is buried in Montmartre Cemetery . A small square, Place Dalida, was created on the corner of Rue Girardon and Rue de l’Abreuvoir in 1995, and in 1997 a bronze bust of the singer was added, to mark the 10th anniversary of her passing. The bust was sculpted by the French artist Aslan, and it sits atop five blocks of granite.
It’s clear from the patina on the statue which part of the bust her adoring fans touch; her bosom has been burnished to a glow by years of touching by her fans.
Place Dalida is easy to reach if you are exploring Montmartre. it’s a downhill walk on Rue des Saules where it intersects with Rue Norvins, then turn left onto Rue de l’Abreuvoir. At the end of that picturesque street you’ll see the bronze bust of Dalida.
The added bonus of this walk is that Rue de l’Abreuvoir is often regarded as one of Montmartre’s prettiest streets. When we visited in November, it was truly a picture of autumnal loveliness. The view from the sculpute, looking back along the street with the dome of the Basilica de Sacre-Coeur in the skyline, was breathtaking. Further, if you continue on along Rue Girardon, you’ll discover one of the remaining windmills of Montmartre.
Certainly visit if you are a fan of the singer. If not, take a stroll along the picturesque streets that lead to the statue.

The statue is situated at the place Dalida in Montmartre! As you come down rue lepic and you find the pink house you turn left and is down there!! The statue is in very good condition only the breasts lost their color though as they say people touch the breasts to bring them good luck! I can't understand how much luck can bring them since all her three relationships committed suicide! Few meters higher in rue d'oberchamps is her house but is not open to public!!

Very much out of the way in Montmartre you stumble across Place Dalida and the statue of Dalida. A beautiful former Miss Egypt who was a singer actress who sang in 10 languages.Yolanda Cristina Gigliotti had beauty and skills but she committed suicide at 54 and never really found long term happiness.

Located up the hill from the Lamarck - Caulaincourt metro stop, it's close to Sacre Coeur as well. Supposedly good luck if you rub the statue. It's under a few trees along a turn in the road.

Village of Montmartre is where the Le Consulat and Le Maison Rose and other famous places like where the “Dalida Statue” is (superstitious belief that if you touch the “golden breast”, you will have good luck).
Walk the same path where Pablo Picasso and Vincent Van Gogh, to name a few famous painters and sculptors, trodded in their lifetime( Rue de l'Abreuvoir)

I am not familiar with this singer but she lived in Montmatre and is buried in its cemetery. The statue is worth seeking out if you are on a stroll through Montmartre because the view from the statue of the rising streets of Montmartre and Sacre Coeur is like a painting waiting to be made. You can also rub Dalida's breasts for luck. At least that's why I think those areas of the statue are worn as they are.
