This visit is a must no doubt at all. It is very easy to get there through the train and much cheaper. It could cost 12 euros metro and tram, compared to 99 euros for a tour (per person). The best is to go by yourself so you can take your time at the Palace, the Gardens and the Grand... More

We pre-booked our tickets online and took the train out to Versailles which is an easy 5 minute walk to the palace. The palace is so large that we opted not to take a tour but to ramble at our own pace around the interior and sprawling grounds. When you reach the palace, there will be a queue, even if... More

Versailles always offers more and more to discover. If time permits, do allow yourself a day to visit the main château and a day to visit the gardens. A rental cart with audioguide is a great way to explore the gardens. Aside from the main areas of the palace while can well be seen on your own, investigate the guided... More

I visited in February 2017. Even though we had purchased tickets online in advance, there was a massive line when we arrived at about 12pm, which took over an hour to get through. I'm not sure a relatively long wait can be avoided but wanted to flag it to help others plan their visit. An audio guide is provided, although... More

The tour books are right. If you want to go to Versailles, get up early and don't go on a Tuesday. Not even in the off season. We did not listen. Left Paris late on a Tuesday and got to the Chateau around 1 pm. The line was about an hour, and we were starving. We decided to power through... More

I think for an Australian this palace would almost always impress. In particular the Hall of Mirrors. The Palace is enormous and you do have to plan on setting aside a bit of time if you want to see it and the gardens. We also visited the Royal Palace of Caserta in Italy which is larger if you can believe... More

My wife and I were only in Paris for a short time and we didn't think we'd possibly fit in a trip to Versailles. Thank goodness we found a way! Just incredible! The collections were amazing and most impressive was the Hall of Mirrors. Beautiful grounds even off season and the glimpse into Royal Life just life changing.

Gorgeous. Amazing palace. From the golden gates to the tour of the palace and the gardens it is breathtaking. Audio guides are v beneficial. Expect crowds. Can be tight. Allocate a few hours to the palace and the and to the gardens if u want to make the most of it

Seeing this palace will take you the better part of the day, depending on how much of the grounds you want to experience. We rented bikes near Apollo's Fountain which made seeing the back half of the estate much easier. Stop for a snack at Dauphin's Grove to stave off the hunger on your journey to the Petit and Grand...
