We were recommended Guideatour by Hotel Le Louis where we were staying for a week. Basically the Guideatour shop is located across the road from the train station & just a few minute walk from the hotel.

Do not use Trip Advisor nor Viator. Purchase tickets from the museums websites directly.
Waited in line under rain to pass security for 2 hours, waited to get to the entrance, tickets cancelled, waited in line to purchase new tickets.

We visited Paris in Sept this year and decided that a visit to Versailles was a must do. Looked up TripAdvisor for a tour recommendation and found Guidatour with decent reviews. Booked over the phone from UK no problem. Turned up in a packed Versailles...More
Our guide was wonderful on this tour. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the palace and offered great tips for after the tour. Much better than just waiting in line and wandering around by yourself!
well worth the booking saving queing time and allowed you to view palace and gardens at your liesure . You can set your own pace .When commencing gardens you can hire an electric cart otherwise walking can be tiring for oldies
There was a bit of queueing to enter the Palace although we were led into the courtyard through a side gate. The entry time selected was for 10:30 am but we had to queue till 11am to enter the Palace. My disappointment was being refused...More
When our tour guide finally arrived at our hotel in Paris for pick up he was 75 minutes late and our skip the line pass was only good until 1:30 pm. Many group tours have specific start times that you can not be late for...More
The visit went very well and we were able to skip the ticket line and gain entry to the palace quickly. The guide we had was very informative, maybe even a bit too informative but he was obviously very keen on his subject.
We did a combined tour of the Palace, queen's private apartments and gardens. Our guide, Claire was wonderful, informative, engaging and fun, she conveyed real interest whilst relentlessly harnessing her group with humour and negotiating the awesome crowds in the Palace itself. All three elements...More

I think your best option is to make a booking for a conference tour directly at the website of the Palace of Versailles. The Palace of Versailles is the only one who has tours of the private appartments. When you get into the Palace with a (conference) guide, you do not have to stand in line.
You will have to purchase an entrance ticket besides the tour of the private appartments. You can buy the Passport ticket (18 euro on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays - 25 euro on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays) which will allow you to enter into the Palace, Gardens and Marie-Antoinette's Estate (Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon and Queen's Hamlet). The visit other then for the private appartments, will be a self-tour.
Our office has guided tours of the Gardens and Marie-Antoinette's Estate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Don't hestitate to contact us by mail if you wish to receive the rates.
I stay at your disposal for any further information.
