Absolutely beautiful place!!! Beautifully renovated. Full of history. Lots of little restaurants and bars, souvenir shops. We've spent a great day walking around this beautiful place :)

We knew the place from the board game and it's great we visited. The town is amazing. It's good that they managed to maintain it so well across centuries.

The visit to the main chateau is very good but tends to be very crowded. We got there when it opened at 10 am and there was a queue to get in (and this is in May). Make sure you do the ramparts walks -...More

From DC you would need to get a flight connection from Paris to Carcassonne airport. There are buses from the airport to the city for about €5 each way. I wouldn't recommend you to take the train from Paris as the trip... More

We will be in Barcelona and have one day to visit Carcassonne. What is the best way to travel from Barcelona to Carcassone and back? By train? How is best way to book the train? Is it worth the trip? Thank you to all for your help.

Yes! Absolutely a beautiful present day city and of course the old walled Cite'. The train is definitely the way to go as it is a direct trip.
