Well organised and friendly art gallery

Nothing particularly stunning on the walls but a good selection of western art from 17th to 20th century.

It is free to visit and I enjoyed wandering round for an hour looking at the paintings, sculptures & ceramics. It was difficult to see some of the paintings up high because of light reflecting on them. I would also have liked to have seen paintings of historic Carcassonne.

Try to see this building at night because the way it's illuminated is beautiful. Peaceful oasis by a large open square near the new bridge. Varied collection, a few gems - and some interesting temporary shows. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Worth a visit if you like art, good for an hour or two if the weather is wet, cold or windy. A bit of a confusing layout and beware of the middle of the day closing for a couple of hours.

Nothing particularly interesting. The usual bored staff. Mainly paintings. Seemed somewhat run down, as did most of this side of Carcassonne

Ornate Neo-Classical facade. The museum boasts a rich collection of paintings and ceramics from the 17th to the 21st Century. Also hosts excellent temporary exhibitions so you never know what you might be lucky enough to see.

I was pleasantly surprised at how many and varied the artworks were. Disappointingly, a few showed signs of damage but given that entrance is free, maybe they can't afford restoration. Worth visiting. The museum building itself is beautiful if crumbling.
