If you're into history and architecture this church is fascinating. The statues in the side altars are beautifully sculptured. It's a peaceful haven.

The sonneur up in the tower was a little eager to let everyone know what time it was all the time, no matter where in Montpellier you were, and especially if you were a block away.

I was looking forward to visit this cathedral, unfortunately it was closed, but I deeply enjoyed photographing the exterior. The towers are massive. It's difficult to cover the entire facade in one image.

Large well maintained sandstone structure with many exterior and interior points of interest - check it out - you will be a wee bit awestruck.

Pope Urban at one time was a student at the renowned Universite de Montpellier. In 1364 he directed that a monastery and church be built on this side. This building by 1536 had evolved into St. Pierre Cathedral. With its southern gothic style, massive footprint, and dominating portico (supported by two circular columns), this church looks more like medieval fortress... More

Very imposing structure with the most amazing port cochere. Nice to walk around the grounds and appreciate the architecture. I did not go inside, but just appreciate the exterior of this marvelous building.

Unfortunately when we arrived it was 11am on Sunday, so it was mass. We did not wish to enter, but from the outside the sheer size of the tw in towers was an indication of what it may look like inside. We could see round stained glass similar to Notre Dame , so if you get the chance the inside... More

A very cool place to walk by and pop into when walking around Montpellier. The porte-cochère is simple, but imposing. To me, it's what makes this church/cathedral stand out. I also liked looking at the bell towers as I walked by. Inside it is massive, and had some pretty nice stained-glass windows.

The beautiful arches on the front of this church are enough to entice the casual walker-by, but once inside, your mind is blown with the expansiveness of the building. This is an amazing cathedral with a impressive organ. Not to be missed!
