The arena is a stunningly great place to visit. Although not as large as the Colosseum in Rome it is amazing to think of how long this place has been in existence. well worth a visit.

A great luck to be in Nimes to attend Les Grands Jeux Romains in the Arenes. Amazing place full of history.

Such well preserved antique place for the lovers of such. Really spooky sometimes, you could almost feel the lions and the gladiators around you. The tour is worth taking with a lot of explanations on the site. Recommend it if you visit it!

That this great structure has survived for 2000 years is a great testament to Roman engineering. You can get right to the top gallery, but be warned that the climb isn't easy - the steps are high. It's an amazing place. I have only given...More

We weren't sure what to expect in Nimes but the wealth of Roman legacy buildings is incredible. We had to queue for about three quarters of an hour which was quite long in the boiling sun but the ticket process was quick and efficient. There...More

Due to the accidents of history, this is one of the best preserved Roman Arenas. It was built only a few years after the Colosseum in Rome, has been in continuous use in one way or another ever since, and is still used regularly for...More

We were here on the first day of the feria 2016. We went here on the first day to avoid seeing the gory bullfights in the next few days. The first day was only a race with the fighters. It was thrilling and the kids...More

Worth visiting and climbing up; free audio guide is not bad. Probably comes into its own during the theatrical re-enactments or staged events during the year. Check tourist office for details.

This is a Roman historical wonder and in very good condition; they still hold events here with the biggest being the Feria, held in early May annually. At this time of year you'd think you were in Spain rather than in France ... it's all...More

Didn`t see any lift/elevator so not really practical. You get a good view from outside (to be honest interior is nothing spectacular) and there are other places (parks etc) where you can take a pushchair.
