A lovely sprawling garden featuring formal terraces and waterways that reminded me of Versailles. The green spaces are less formal, but ooze Mediterranean appeal. Plenty of space to enjoy a picnic lunch. The gardens are planted on a hill, so prepare for many stairs and sloped paths. There are Roman ruins at the base, as well as the top of... More

At least in May, the garden is really a formal landscape with terraces an statuary, but very few actual plantings. There is an area at the top of the terraces, but the map suggested it is mainly a woodland with paths.

Jardins de la Fontaine, I rate as one of the most beautiful gardens I have seen. Incredible gardens with statues everywhere and many levels of gardens with swans ducks fish everywhere, If i lived in Nimes I would spend many sunny days there.. plenty of activities for kids and ancient roman ruins and cafes nearby. Outstanding, a Highlight of Nimes... More

You could spend a whole day visiting this gardens and the Torre Magna. Excellent views of the city. Ideal for a family picknick, or a hicke.

We parked in town and trekked up to Tour Magne, which was quite a bit of work for us oldsters. The tower itself is really no big deal, but the trek was made worthwhile by the lovely gardens, which also provide a comfortable path down (part of the way).

Pleasant park and garden is built on top of the original springs of Nimes.See the film at Maison Carree to understand why and it will make your visit to the fountain better.

I travel with a group and had some time off. I visited the park not knowing what to expect. Beautiful surroundings with balustrades and great landscaping. The fountains were not working but I climbed the hill to the tower on the top. There are grand staircases and then steep pathways. I got to the tower but was too late in... More

Very Mediterranean feel to them. Lots of shady walkways and choices of steps or slopes in all directions. Loved by the locals too as families and couples having picnics everywhere.
