a lovely 4 story museum that covers Toulousan history from Roman times through medieval. Three floors are dedicated to a perfect little summary of the history and development of Toulouse with artifacts and models in a beautiful building next to Saint Sernin. On weekends, there is a flea market outside. Has a great little restaurant in the garden. And even... More

Wonderful relics from the Roman days (100 yrs Before Christ onwards). The mind boggles to think of what was created in those days and how well preserved it is. Everything here is in French - so understanding it helps with building the story. The underground necropolis is a real treat. The first Sunday of the month is free to visit-... More

This museum has an interesting collection of mostly Roman remains. It's housed in an attractive medieval building opposite the St Sernin basilica. There are three floors of exhibits and it's a pleasant way to spend an hour or two. Information in English is quite limited. I found the display on the first floor - sculptures from Chiragan, a site near... More

This museum is hosted by one of the oldest house in Toulouse, a medieval one. It nicely looks Roman, but it is not. And that's great because this museum presents a lot of things dating back to the times this land was part of tthe Great Roman Empire. This museum presents a bust of the first Roman emperor: Augustus. There... More

This is more than a simple museum, actually the former Augustin church and cloister makes a very deep impression. The gothic statues, are an excellent collection

Wonderful sculptures as well as precious miniature antiquities, tombs, ancient jugs and mosaics. Enjoyed finding the details and fine work in the various displays.

After the cathedral I thought what to do and checked TripAdvisor. Don't go there. The audio guide helps understanding, but doesn't make it more exciting.

Worth a visit after visiting the basilica of St Sernin and learning of the history of the martyred bishop. Here you can visit the excavated remains of a burial site and see lots of exhibits and models to show the development of the city from ancient times. Free with the pass tourisme from the tourist office or Tisseo transport offices... More

On a rainy afternoon, we decided to visit this museum as an alternative to take a guided walking tour . We were surprised in many ways : first , for some obscure reason , we were granted a free access to the museum , second , the displays on the first and second floors were quite interesting and we learned... The collection is well laid out and very interesting. I struggled with the descriptions as they were only in French. (I found out afterwards that an English audio guide was available.) though it took me awhile to read the descriptions, it was so worth it! There are statues, partial frescoes, heads of emperors, household items like oil lamps and jewellery,... More
