We loved the idiosyncrasies of this collection of art, sculpture and furniture - every room contained things that intrigued and delighted. We especially enjoyed the Venetian room, with its Canalettos and Guardis. You can easily spend several hours browsing the collection.

So I have been to all the museum in Toulouse and this is definitely my favorite one. The museum is located in the city-center, in a wonderful mansion. Not only do you get to see different sculptures, furniture (...) but you also walk around the property and discover a fantastic piece of architecture.. Double the experience, double the pleasure! The... More

worth a visit, this medieval hôtel is already a beautiful piece of architecture...then the Deutsch masters paintings, the venician Canaletto paintings are wonderful. The atmosphere is quite and you may approach the paintings as closely as you like. Ancient furnitures are preserved in some rooms. While in Toulouse, do not miss this remarquable museum.

Like some reviewers, I wasn't enthralled with the rather mish-mash early collections on the lower floors, but the more modern collection in the newer, brighter upper floors certainly worth a view - Monet, Caillebotte, Dufy, Utrillo, Derain, Bonnard, Morisot, Degas etc etc which wouldn't look out of place in Paris at the Musée D'Orsay or L'Orangerie if truth be told.... The Hotel d' Assezat houses the personal collection of Georges Bemberg and is a collaboration of the Foundation and the City of Toulouse. It is quite a large collection and includes paintings, drawings, sculptures, ancient books and furniture. Paintings and drawings are the highlights of the collection, especially 19th and early 20th century French painting. The building itself is a... More

This museum is in a lovely old house and contains some real gems from Degas, Canaletto, Picasso, Renoir and Lautrec to name but a few! Well worth the 8 Euro admission.

For some the substantial painting collection on the upper floor (works from ca. 1850 to 1950) will be the main draw here. One could be absorbed by them for an hour or two. But for me the more substantial lower floor, jam packed with earlier paintings and decorative objects, was enthralling. Quirky, yes. But one got a very good sense... More

We really enjoyed this little museum/gallery.... but don't follow the guide book! The best part of the collection is on the top floor, so bypass the older stuff (there are some wonderful things to see on the first floor, but the presentation is poor) and go straight to the impressionists and other more modern works... some stunning paintings in a... Nice collection in a beautiful building, spoilt by the terrible colours of the walls which detract and the poor lighting which makes it impossible to see some of the works except from an oblique angle.
