The Braderie in Lille is renowned for being the largest flea market in Europe. With over 60km of stands, and over 10,000 stall holders it would be impossible to see the whole market in the 36 odd hours that it is open. Therefore - plan...More

A good day's outing on the whole though I do wish the spouse had agreed to train instead of drive in. Expect it to take nearly all day to see it all at a semi-leisurely pace. Very limited toilets aside from bars and restaurants generally....More

We planned 9 months ahead and stayed for the whole weekend in the heart of the old town and it exceeded all our expectations. As others have said this is a massive street market with stalls ranging from antique dealers to householders unwanted goods, up...More

We go each year and have a really wonderful time. Just mooching about the old city and eating, shopping in the antiques areas is pure joy. Highly reccommned.

Have just returned from this year's Braderie. Catching the Eurostar from Ebbsfleet was perfect (just to mention that the parking cost 9 pounds which hubby was shocked at, maybe we should have prebooked). A lovely day but of course you cannot possibly see everything in...More

Parking was insane, so was the massive amount of stuff. Too much new cheap knock off looking stuff being peddled for my liking, but there were some treasures to be found and a lot of food booths and restaurants to choose from. Difficult to see...More

You can walk for 2 days and not see everything. Don't expect to get a fantastic antique bargain but you will find something. You just need to look. Try the English Church in Rue Watteau for tea and homemade cakes for something different.

If you happen to be in the North of France, first weekend of September, the Braderie is worth a visit. Lille is a beautiful town. The old city resembles Ansterdam. Immense flea market with some good finds, if you are in a mood to shop....More

Reading the latest Braderie reviews I was disappointed for the lady who went on a day's coach trip and found only commercial tat. While there certainly is an element of that in the Braderie weekend, I assume someone with limited time and knowledge of Lille...More

10,000 sellers, 100 kilometers of stalls.... stamina needed! But this annual event (taking place on the weekend of the first Sunday in September) is a bargain-hunter's paradise. I go every year. A amazing 'buzz' in this lovely city, a very crime-free huge crowd (in my experience,...More
