It would be a travesty to go to Caen and not visit this museum. It is beautifully done. You do not need to know French or have a knowledge of World War II to enjoy this museum to its fullest extent.

Good museum with good explanation of the war and the running up to WWII. The cold war section was allright but less impressive. Also the Beach tours I can recommend.

No matter what I write here it will never do this justice. The Memorial of Caen is a truly spectacular exhibit, chronicling in great detail the events leading up to the second world war and through to the fall of the Berlin Wall. There are...More

This museum was included on the group tour I was on, spent several hours here. A comprehensive look at the events after WWI through to WWII with a lot of exhibits. Far to much for me to absorb, I felt depressed and a little sick...More

The 2 hours we spent here was grossly inadequate. Unfortunately we were in a pre booked tour and thats all the time we got. One must visit the place to understand the price of freedom we enjoy today.

Great museum this, recommended without reservation. Tells the story of World War Two in three comprehensive parts: the aftermath of 1918 through to, and including 1939-45; the Battle for Normandy; and the Cold War that followed. Beneath the museum is the German D-Day command bunker...More

We spent 6 hours at this wonderfully presented museum. I can't add anything to the glowing reviews. A most sobering and humbling experience especially to view a section of the Berlin Wall and some steel from the structure of the Twin Towers. The memorial gardens...More

This museum covers events leading up to WWII from the first WW, the war including the d day landing and post war. It is multimedia and well done. You must leave 3 to 4 hours for this venue and could spend most of the day.

This museum gives an interesting overview of the World political climate and the European society prior to 1939. A lot of pictures and videos are being played and are extremely informative. I enjoy this visit and it is a must for those visitors who are...More

Sorry not sure about port. I took train from Paris, stops in Caen where the World War museum is. Then you travel on train to Bayeux where you take tour to visit Memorial and Beaches.
