I have been to most of the WW2 museums in Normandy over the years and this was one of the least interesting. So much of the display was only in French that, apart from the view over the city, there's not a lot of reason...More

Did not realise today was Assumption Day & therefore a public holiday. So museum was closed. Disappointing. Warning : also closed at lunchtime. 12.30 pm till 2.00 pm. We arrived at 1.25 pm. Walk up the hill was fine. Great views at the top.

It's location at the top of the Roule mountain is outstanding and is worth the climb up alone. The museum itself is small and quaint but is tastefully done. There is some interesting paraphernalia. I would agree with some of the other posters that English...More

This is a very small but interesting museum. I think it would have been better to have had a bit more information translated into English than there was. Beautiful view over Cherbourg from the top of the hill. Don't walk up the hill, especially in...More

The views are beautiful as is the museum. I suggest you don't walk up the cliff it's quite a hike. The museum is far bigger as it would seem. The displays interesting for anyone into WWII.

This was apparently the first museum of its type and is kept very well with new exhibits being added quite often we understand. You are led on a journey through rooms dealing with how things progressed through those long years. There are many small and...More

Have visited this venue in the past. Great drive to the museum via numerous hairpin bends. Very well laid out venue with several screens and exhibits. Go out onto the battlements and you will be met with a breathtaking view of Cherbourg the port and...More

Walked up the road from the station round the hairpin bends on a lovely sunny day to this reminder of darker days. The museum is well laid out and provides a brief history of the occupation and eventual liberation of the area. The museum is...More
