Half an hour drive from Honfleur, but such a different place. The houses here look all new or upgraded. This is a city for the rich, who come to spend their holidays. The city centre is the casino and a conference place. The streets are lined with villas and chic boutiques selling labelled commodities. Instead of old time charm, the city smells of money!

What a beautiful town. Beautiful and elegant houses and very clean city. Market day on Saturday so expect a big crowd but very lively. The city center is fabulous. So many cafes and ice cream shops and bakeries. Would love to visit again

The sandy beach is great in Deauville and has a long board walk with private cabins built in the 1920s and named after famous actors and actresses. We hired a cabana and 2 mattresses which cost us EUR33 for a day. There is a bar where we had some lunch and a drink, you have to pay to use the public toilets which is 70c per person per visit

I have read in a local French paper that each morning in the month of August the horses taking part in the polo event are taken for a morning bath in the sea at Deauville. Has anyone seen this or know roughly what time this happens or where on the beach?

Beautiful long beach with loads of clean sand. Perfect for walking or sun bathing on a nice day. A couple of cafes to chill at. Whatever the weather, a nice way to spend time.

Although not many would visit a seaside resort in the middle of Winter this is one place worth visiting if one is in the area. The huge expanse of sand is impressive however the place shuts down for Winter so there is little chance of stopping over for a warm drink or a break from the cold wind

Residing in Deauville during summer time for more then 15 years, we should make you aware that this resort is getting less and less attractive and enjoyable. Just a few pictures to illustrate the beach area which is no more maintained. Dust bins are rare and usually not cleaned as you would expect in such a glamorous place, ocean front cabanas are not more maintained, just a quick painting a few days before the September American film festivals to improve appearance, don't expect to find a bench, there are none ! Beware barriers are not maintained either and the walk way is not clean either. If you plan to walk the famous Planches, please don't forget flip flops to avoid injuries (nails emerged every where). Last if you are planning to enjoy sunset with a drink, forget about it or walk a mile west side to Benerville beach which offers a couple of new lively bars while those of Deauville will just be closed.

Deauville is worth a visit and wander through the streets. It's such a beautiful town, and not too busy. I only stayed for a day, but the market, beach, and streets are nice. I suppose people do a lot of shopping there too, but that's not for me. I just enjoyed the ambience and the food
