A lovely museum of art from the Normandy region

This is a lovely museum. It isn't too large so it doesn't overwhelm you. The museum shows some of the paintings of Eugene Boudin but not only. It displays lots of other paintings... read more

The absolute first thing I can tell you is that NO PHOTOS are allowed here. The gift store does carry some postcards, so that a remembrance of what you have seen and enjoyed is possible. They did not have a couple that I had wished they had had. Always the case with these situations, isn't it? And any special exhibits... More

Anyone who likes the Impressionists has to visit this museum. Boudin immediately preceded and influenced some Impressionists and lived in a town some envied for painting "en plein". The staff at the museum were helpful & knowledgable.

A real mix of a collection. The 'theme' would appear to be Honfleur, not a bad subject for art, but a fairly wide range of unrelated style opportunities and all of them explored. Not many Boudin pictures but the ones that there are are representative of his portfolio. There are works by a number of artists that are split across... More

We visited during an exhibition of Impressionist paintings with many covering Honfleur and many by Boudin himself. Not a large gallery but worth a visit remembering that this exhibition may not be on by the time you visit.

The museum presented as advertised. There is a nice concentration of Honfleur and Norman artists, including Boudin. The collection is presented in a precise, sensible manner in a lovely building.

Needs to have English translations to the exhibits and not just to be handed an A4 sheet of paper which does not have enough information. This would attract more visitors.

Great exposition...... to be young in the age of the impressionists.... great exhibits.... Hambourg/Monet/Morisot/Laval/Boudin...... plus lots of others.... Wonderful Museum.... ps pity you now have to pay 12 euro to cross the Pont de Normandy(6 euro each way) to go to Le Havre who also have a great museum on the sea front. With Baudelaire and Satie plus the beautiful... More

This museum lacks entrepreneurship. It looks rundown ans is not competitive to other national museums. The disgraceful building is dard inside, and iguana Boudin's sketches and watercolors are protected without light, accusing a real disappointment. This year's exhibition "Etre jeune au temps des impressionists" is a total flop. besides the poster there is nothing to dream about, ans most paintings... More

We came to see exhibition of impressionists. It's just matter of my taste ... however I think that the best pictures by impressionists are hold in Orsay, Hermitage, Louvre, National gallery etc. We didn't met any picture that we really loved or were impressed by... And if you are not a fan of Boudin himself - doesn't worth it.
