Great historic location

Fantastic historic location with wonderful architecture. It is truly amazing how these old buildings were designed and built several hundred years ago.

So glad we visited this cathedral it is beautiful, magnificent and full of history. Music playing quietly added to the atmosphere, full of colour and life. Felt how I think a church building should feel. Well, worth a visit.

Total surprise, huge, generally well maintained, no charge to sight-see, no change to visit the 'museum' to see all the church gold and silver vestments, platters, goblets etc. One of the highlights of our three week visit to France.

Easy to find and, when we visited, plenty of parking spaces, Wonderful basilica, beautiful stained glass windows contrast to the relatively plain interior. Easy to understand why it was used as a model for far larger cathedrals, A must see if in the area and only two hours from Calais.

A must for all cathedral lovers. The extraordinary towers externally and simple and pure lines of the nave internally must surely make this one of the finest Gothic cathedrals in the world. Dramatically sited too, on its hilltop. Also beautiful at night when floodlit.

Like RichardfW we went in the evening when no one was about. Calm, quiet, impressive building situated atop the hillside overlooking Picardy. Well worth a visit and a walk after dark around the walls.

The cathedral was almost empty at 4pm on a Monday afternoon. The building and its stained glass are spectacular, yet no tourists see, to visit this ghost city on a hill.

I thought we'd seen all the big gothic cathedrals. Then we found this gem. Totally blew us away with the delicacy of the carving and the flamboyant inventiveness of the detail. Not to be missed at night, when the illumination turns it into magic.

This gothic edifice can be seen for miles as it is set high on the hill of the historic old town. Our impression may be somewhat coloured by the outside temperature nearing 40 degrees whist the inside was neare 20 degrees so we were delighted to take our time and enjoy the architecture. The windows are spectacular. The views from... More
