There is an interesting exhibition concerning the first world war. The film is probably 10 minutes long and interesting in itself. But that's were the interest stops. The museum is like a picture warehouse, with pictures lined up on the floor that you have to...More

I've been traveling to paper museums, and this particular museum is not necessarily the best for explaining making paper, but its exhibition space is devoted to the art of paper. The particular exhibition April to December 2018 anticipates the centenary of the end of World...More

Nice little museum showing the once prosperous paper business in Angouleme. Right on the river, you can see how they made paper, mostly for cigarettes.

We found this museum by chance and were struck by the preservation of the old machinery in the mill on the River Charente. Sadly the description panels are obviously in French, one can understand how the mill itself worked from the rivers power. Well worth...More

Interesting visit with well preserved machinery. The constant flow and temperature of the Charente River (due to the Touvre source, a massive flow of water from deep underground), is the reason for setting up the paper industry here. Rizla+ cigarette papers were first made here,...More

The 3D art was very good the whole exhibition was only worthy of an hour of your time and while not expensive there isn't a whole lot there for a single visit but if doing other things would fill an hour.

The history of papermaking and importance of the Charente is displayed on the ground floor and a wonderful exhibition of sculptures in paper on the first floor.

We came upon the Musee du papier completely by chance after a wonderful day out in Angouleme. A fascinating insight into paper making and the rôle of the Charante as an important part of industry in the area. The mill is no longer a working...More
