Overview

Crossing the threshold of the Martell House, in Cognac, means entering into a unique story. It is the story of a man, Jean Martell who founded his cognac house, in 1715 under the reign of Louis XIV. It is the story of a house which, from one generation to the next, has kept alive the age-old knowhow of vine- growers, distillers, barrel-makers and cellar masters. It is the story of a beautiful region, whose crus bear poetic names: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois. It is the story of a French art of living made up of refinement and elegance, whose spirit gives Martell cognacs their clearly recognizable style. It is a story to be discovered, explored… and savoured.

Very nice 2-hours tour with not too much visitors (we were 15) that gives you an excellent explanation about how and where Cognac is produced; very useful and nice tasting at the end of the tour. Highly recommendable.

We arrived too late to take the English, but joined a small group and the Docent would politely switch from French to English to include us in on her entertaining explanation of the process of making Cognac. I had toured the same Distillery 50 years...More

We chose Martell randomly from the several large cognac houses with tours available. The converted building which serves as the reception and tasting area feels like a modern but stylish cathedral with homage to cognac. We were fortunate in arriving in time for the English...More

Being shown around the buildings, The guide was very knowledgeable. The older buildings are in great condition! They clearly are very proud of the Martell history & are doing a great job of keeping it alive. The tasting session was awesome! Thankyou x
