We enjoyed our visit to The Lantern Tower or The Four Sergeants Tower on the waterfront at La Rochelle. Not only was it used as a signal for ships but as a prison.

Very limited artefacts exhibited but the view is worth the staircase getting tinier and tinier as you go up.
Watch out for the graffiti too from prisoners, testament from its rich history.

We visited la Rochelle with our 8 yr old and 4 yr old and went up the middle tower, they loved it! Amazing views over this beautiful city, we walked along the wall to the beach. Enjoyable day out in this historical merchants city.
