This is a magnificent cathedral with impressive works of art and superb acoustics. We've attended both services and a concert here and both were beautiful. Located in the old historic district of Aix-en-Provence, it is easy to find and near many good restaurants.

The cathedral is in a beautiful location and has an amazing & detailed entrance but there was a construction going on so the whole top was covered and gates and cardboard restricting areas. Inside its very dark but there were some magnificent colors and really interesting paintings on the walls which made the worth the little visit inside. I wouldn't... More

Plenty to see inside and out with parts of the Cathedral dating back to Roman times right up to a modern immersion baptismal pool.

An alive, bustling church on a Saturday afternoon ... Amazing. Beautiful, ancient church...some parts of it date back to 400 A.D. Close to Parking Pasteur and Parking Cardeurs.

dissapointing thing is that it`s currently under renovation, so you can`t see the true beauty of it. Not sure, but I think I`ve read that all the construction jobs on cathedral should have been completed by December 2016...

This Romanesque/Gothic style cathedral was rebuilt between the 12th-16th C. in the historical center of Aix-en-Provence. The fine Gothic façade w/ portal & bell tower were rebuilt in the 15th C. and displays several statues incl. the centerpiece on top w/ St. Michael Crushing the Dragon. The complex interior features two rib vaulted naves w/ arcades supported by 4 slender... More

Like Sagrada in Barcelona, the Aix Cathedral is a place still undone. This cathedral was built on the site of a temple to Apollo, so they say, between the 5th to the 18th century. It is relatively small in size, but contains, massive pillars ornately decorated with plants and animals. Three naves of different styles (Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque), flank the... More

From what seemed like another old church we were really taken with the amazing history if the different phases of this places history and evidence if it scattered throughout the church. Worth the time.
