I travelled on a little local bus (no 110) from Aix to visit the villages at the foot of this wonderful mountain. Its presence is so important to Aix, being the mountain that Cézanne painted over 80 times. I believe there are trails but I only visited on the bus but still saw its beautiful cragginess and lovely colours. On... More

Don't go alone, especially if you're a first timer. The mountain is huge and there are so many routes to take to the top. Follow a crowd or visit the tourist centre at the bottom for a map. I found the map not to be very helpful, so try to read online about people's routes before you go, so you... More

St Victoire dominates the landscape. It is beautifully craggy and because of the light never looks the same. It is a stunning.

If you go on a hot sunny day, go early and take sun cream, hat and lots of water as the temperature can get very hot . Nice trails and easy to follow paint markers on the rocks

Beautiful mountain near Aix en Provence, painted by the famous impressionist painter Paul Cezanne. Depending on when you watch at "her", "she" can be grey, blue, pink...you must watch this mountain, but not spoil it. There are protected species, plants, animals.

beautiful vistas, peaceful easy hike (so long as you take the "easy" course). This was one of the highlights of our Provence trip. Highly recommend it.

We decided to visit this on one of our last days in Aix. We took a bus to one of the stops then did a short hike which led us to a tiny village where we took a bus back to Aix. Dress appropriately when going the wind REALLY picks up after the bus drops you... trail markers are marked... More

This is a lovely hike with many beautiful vistas. The best part is you are in a forest but still within minutes of central Aix en Provence. Nature abounds! There are many trails blazers take your time and enjoy!

A very long yet enjoyable walk for any hiking enthusiast! Main part of the walk is a bit tough so you won't necessarily bring children with you. However do bring great shoes!

What a place! You can walk up from the very bottom or there are car parks placed at various places on the way up. There are beautiful walks of differing difficulties so whether you're a granny, a family with small children or fairly fit it will suit all. Bring a picnic, loads of places to sit and relax with great... More
