As others have said, this museum is good for putting things in context and setting the scene. A visit will give you background information for visiting several of the other attractions in Arles, many of which are almost entirely devoid of explanations themselves (les Cryptoportiques,...More

The biggest collection of amphorae and sarcophogi! Also many other items found in the area. And of course the boat, a must see

This museum has more of a history and archaeology focus and may be over shadowed by Van Gough and Reattu but we were very impressed by the Roman exhibit and the story behind the restoration of the Roman river barge and the general Roman history...More

Magnificent displays presented with flair. Allow at least two hours for a quick tour. The highlight has to be a rescued ship from 2000 years ago. There is a film with multi lingual subtitles that tells of the ship's discovery and recovery. Well worth the...More

The 30m Roman boat excavated from the silt in the Rhone was superb, as were all exhibits. The film (in English and French) was very interesting.

Very friendly. Lovely lay out and pleasant garden. A little off beaten path but well worth seeking out. Excellent exhibit of the historical development of this area.

This museum is extremely interesting and it has an awesome collection of Roman artefacts.Due to my very dodgy french, I wish there was written information in English about every piece on exhibit as opposed to only about half of the things on display. If they've...More

Not at the museum, no, but the city centre isn't far away and you'll find plenty of places to eat there.
