Amazing! Well worth a visit and a wander. Such a sense of history around you. The walk up the tower is well worth the walk. Affords great views

Lovely day out on holidays with the children and grandchildren. Perfect day which suited all of us. Really good atmosphere in the arena and you could easily imagine what it was like back in the day..

Interesting amphitheatre. Worth seeing even if you have seen the Colosseum in Rome (which we saw a year ago). Suffers a bit by comparison to Nimes amphiteatre, which is well-preserved and has excellent audioguide. This one in Arles actually seems bigger. Climb to top for panoramic view of city, Rhone, and distant mountains.

Very interesting to see a 2000 year old building still in use for public spectacles today. The programme of restoration works is impressive and the info boards have a s mattering of English as Wells's French. Just around the corner from the theatre.

I prefer this as an example of a roman amphitheatre to visit than the Colosseum in Rome. There's nobody hassling you, it's easy to walk around, not full of cats and just as spectacular in it's architecture.

We stayed in Arles on our way to the south coast on a motorcycle tour. Visited here in the evening, about an hour before closing so was good and quiet. Took about 45 minutes to walk around and look at everything and was well worth the 18 Euros for the two of us (without the guided tour). Stunning structure and... More

This amazing old place in the centre of Arles is still in use today. Far more impressive than I thought it would

It's a very interesting visit nonetheless, specially if you've never seen a roman arena before. But the structures mounted to allow the place to be used for shows and other events take away all the ambiance, as you can see in the pictures. It's worth a visit anyway, but it could be way better,

I took a tour in French although my french is less than good and enjoyed it very much. I would suggest to read some history before you visit.

This is an amazing preserved Roman amphitheater and was quite the surprise for us to find in the South of France. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring this piece of history.
