Morning spent wandering around. Good displays and multi lingual cards for those of us who hate the inevitable electronic guided tour.

Amazing architecture and a bit creepy for all but devout, old fashioned catholics! The scale of the development inspires awe. Definitely worth a visit.

The Palais des Papes is THE place in Avignon. That's why you would get there. No need to assess the monument. It is outstanding, you are in the heart of history, you talk to the popes, you are privileged. Just learn, enjoy, think, pray. You...More

Interesting history about the Popes at this site and about all the uses of this fantastic building. Definitely get the headset that guides you through the palace.

Worth the visit to a very busy City. We were not impressed with Avignon itself. For a walled City it had far too much traffic and you had to look very hard to find somewhere you felt you weren't being ripped off as a tourist

I had expected more of this Palace. It was basically just a shell with a few information boards in the rooms (not all of which were in English). Having said that, we did not opt for the audio guide - maybe there was more info...More

This is a very grand palace built from the 14th century for the Popes who had moved from Rome. The rooms are large, but mostly empty of anything. The restoration has been done very well to put it back to as it was before the...More

The visit is worth, however the first half you will see only "walls" since everything was removed from its interior, but you can hear the whole history from the audio guide and also video monitors inside. On the second floor then the visit is a...More

Easy. You would get near the Pont d Avignon and if you go to the bridge information shop you can buy a ticket to go on the bridge and straight into the Palais. Enjoy.
