Lovely little church, very picturesque from the outside and nice and cozy inside. Fairly centrally located in the old part of the town.

The cathedral should open at 15.00. So climbing all the stairs (as somebody with knee problems) and waiting for 15 minutes in the rain we entered the cathedral at 15.03. Immediately we and others were told to leave in a very unpleasant way by the person in charge. The cathedral was closed and would open at 15.30. The sign at the door saying 15.00 did not matter. It was ‘go, go’. We decided not to wait in the rain for another 25 minutes, not feeling welcome at all. So probably it is a very nice cathedral, but we will see it in a few years when/if we come back to Menton.

Really beautiful place, loved the paintings and ceiling detailing. There was a baptism going on so lovely music playing too.
The outside mosaic style square is lovely and views to the sea too.

Very interesting church. We were mostly interested to know about the bell, but there was not enough information, so we just googled it. Don't forget to have a deep look at the ceilings.

This is one of the most beautiful churches I have seen in France, although I have to admit that is only a small fraction of the churches I have seen in Italy. It’s colorful, elaborate and tasteful. My only regret is getting there so late that we could only spend maybe 10 minutes before they closed. Why? Somehow the GPS sent us over the border to Italy and following the directions to the church were byzantine, thereafter. Once we got close, there was cop who would not allow us to drive to the church and we were ready to give up as there didn’t appear to be any parking around. Indeed, we did give up and started to return to our hotel, but luckily on the first street we drove down there was an empty spot, admittedly a pretty lousy spot ( I had to get out of the car so she park right up against a wall ). Then we had to walk a long way to the church, downhill going and uphill coming back. The church is on a plateau high above the coast, with a great , sweeping view of the city and the coast. We would have stayed longer, but again getting late to the church was also late in the day and it was getting towards sunset. We had to walk back to the car and then drive to the hotel. Too bad. Try to get there earlier, if you go.

Beautiful basilica from in- and outside. I was reminded of churches in Italy rather than France. If you‘re in Menton, visiting this one is a must!

The Saint-Michel basilica was built in the 17h century in Baroque style.
The structire was during the pas decade.
The church is accessable from the coast via majestic steps
Also the interior is well worth a visit.
Admission is free, although a (small) donation will always be appreciated.

The church and restored square are colorful and have such a “clean” feel. The steps ascending to the square provide great views of the sea below and by the time you reach the top, the view toward Italy is simply gorgeous. Be sure to appreciate the incredible stonework paving below your feet. The church is open at certain hours, so if you want to actually enter it, do your access research in advance.

Qualche anno fa mi sono trovata a visitare Mentone in settembre e ho trovato una festa. mi è stato detto che si trattava della festa di saint Michel ma la fanno ancora? Quando?
