This small and relatively simple marriage room was designed by the local genius Jean Cocteau in an original poetic style that one would have a hard time finding elsewhere. The furniture, carpet and wall paintings format a whole. A read up on Cocteau is advised to truly understand how brilliant this man was.

The Marriage Hall in the Town Hall was decorated by Jean Cocteau in the 1950s and is a great example of his work. Walls and ceiling are completely covered with his striking designs, full of symbolism. Lamps, seats, mirrors and doors also designed by Cocteau. At the back of the room, either side of the entrance doors (only opened for... More

We had read about this special hall in advance, but nevertheless it was relatively hard to find. It is to be found in the Hotel de Ville (Municipality hall), but there is a door on the front side of the building; however this door is closed and you have to go inside the building through the central door in order... Salle des Marriages is in the Town hall. Was decorated in 1957 - 1958 by Jean Cocteau. It´s opened every day 8:30-12:00/14.00 - 16.30. You pay 2 euros and can admire beautiful paintings on walls. You can also choose the language and the staff play the commentary. It´s definitely worth visiting.

A good location to see a wedding party preparing for the civil ceremony or coming out of the City Hall. Wait across the street from the building at the small plaza to view. If you're fortunate to be a guest of a wedding you will be able to enter the La Salle des Mariages and witness a French wedding civil... More

Located in the town hall, and free, this louche-looking "salle des marriages" looks like a 1920s cocktail lounge. Or the sitting room of a bordello. The Cocteau drawings on walls and ceiling are the reason to go.

It's worth getting the guided tour to the Salle des Mariages - Thursday afternoon at the reception desk of the Mairie. The guide describes the symbolism of the different wall paintings and Cocteau's inspiration for each. A pleasant and interesting visit.

This lovely little wedding venue is not always open to the public but the staff from the main building are so helpful and will show you round willingly. The Cocteau murals are lovely and went some way to making up for the museum being closed. There is a very interesting recorded commentary available in several languages. Lovely place to wed.

This Hall is famous because of Kokto's paintings. It is very small , unusual and it is worth visiting. But ..I never saw it open. Each year my family visits Menton for 2 weeks in August and every day we go along this building. A few year's ago I just went inside, explained who zi was and asked to please... More
