Clean paths, steep climb, but absolutely worth it. You can approach the Port from the "Old Town" side and enjoy exquisite views of the Bay of Angels

Castle Hill is located next to Nice old Town and accessible via upstairs, street or free elevator (lift). Green park is on a top of a hill. Several rest areas and view areas.

Definitely worth going to the top of Castle Hill for the views. There is a free lift to the left of the steps (might have to queue in Summer), or you can venture up the steps. Don't just stop at the top step, follow the...More

Fantastic views of both the promenade on one side and the port on the other, really nice gardens to explore, well worth the climb to get up there

I can see why this is rated as the number one rated thing to do in Nice. It really sets the stage for an entire trip. Just an amazing vista.

The lift was not working but the climb is not hard as there are lots of seats and viewpoints to rest if you need to . Enjoy each stage, the peaceful expanse at the top is well worth it even though the cafes are a...More

We had been walking all day so we took the elevators up and the stairs down. It takes you almost all the way to the top. The views are breathtaking. Worth the climb!

Except the huge number of steps, the place is brilliant! We were with young kids and a pram, therefore had to carry it occasionally, which, on a hot day, is not ideal. Other than that, the hill is highly recommended to visit, the waterfall is...More

Definitely worth the walk up to the top, some great views in all directions providing plenty of photo opportunities. Also a nice waterfall up there too!

I don't know but assume lift will be out of action and gate locked due to waterfall etc for Health and Safety reasons.

Google Cascade Du Casteu and you'll find it. It's basically on the west side of the top of the hill where the highest viewpoint is.
